PHNOM PENH, July 25, 2024 — Cambodia and China have further strengthened their cooperation, this time with a specific focus on civil service capacity building, in a meeting held in Phnom Penh on July 24. The discussion was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, Hun Many, and the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wenbin.
The meeting highlighted the strong and longstanding relations between the two nations, characterized by mutual respect and cooperation at various levels including government and grassroots engagements. The two dignitaries praised the enduring friendship and the honest historical ties that have facilitated numerous cooperative efforts over the years.
Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many acknowledged the fruitful results of collaboration with China, particularly through initiatives like the information and communication technology (ICT) development project. This project, under the ambit of the Cambodian Ministry of Civil Service and the China National Civil Service Administration (NCSA), has facilitated significant strides in enhancing the capabilities of Cambodian civil servants through organized visits, seminars, and training exchanges.
Ambassador Wang Wenbin took the opportunity to underscore the comprehensive cooperation that has led to key achievements benefiting both nations.
Moreover, the meeting touched upon the vital role of youth in both countries, discussing how to bolster ties through enhanced cooperation among young people, aimed at fostering a shared community of destiny.
